The evolution of the epidemiological situation in Portugal and, above all, in the other Member States of the European Union, has shown an upward trajectory in terms of the number of new daily cases of the COVID-19 disease, a marked increase in the incidence rate and transmissibility rate of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Even though, as a result of the high vaccination rate achieved in Portugal, pressure indicators on the National Health Service and the impact on mortality are below the reference levels proposed by experts, the aforementioned reality requires the immediate adoption of preventive measures, from in an attempt to avoid the worsening of the epidemiological situation.

Seeking to find a balance between the concerns described above and the vaccination coverage of the Portuguese population, it is decided to adopt a set of preventive measures, fundamentally based on greater use of masks, on the mandatory presentation of the digital certificate for access to certain events and services and the massification of testing, which will be mandatory for access to some events and equipment.

How will this affect my stay?
Here at Omassim guesthouse, the pandemic does not have a huge impact on our day-to-day life. Our guests are mostly remote workers who are staying with us long term. Most meet for meal breaks and we are enjoying a family-like community in this beautiful space. You’ll be able to enjoy every day long walks in the nature with stunning views, relax and meditate at the sound of the power of the ocean. We practice yoga three days a week (Tuesday, Friday, Sunday, and more under request) and use the gym for personal workouts. All extra activities are available, such as surf lesson, bouldering, guided mountain biking, etc..

Please note: Guest are required to provide a proof attesting the complete vaccination schedule or a proof of a negative test results by the time they’re checking-in. A proof of a negative test is mandatory every week in case of long term staying whenever the guest is not holding a full vaccination schedule.

Hygiene measures on site

In April / May 2020, we participated in online courses to learn how to safely manage the guesthouse. We uphold the appropriate restrictions and measures to keep Omassim Guesthouse as safe and clean as possible.

We have received the badge: CLEAN & SAFE, recognised by Tourism Portugal.

  • The house is aired extensively every day and surfaces are disinfected (tabletops, door handles, light switches, bathrooms).
  • All bed linen and towels are washed with our certified Laundry Service (Eco-Lavandaria), also recognised CLEAN & SAFE from Tourism Portugal.
  • Staff at Omassim Guesthouse are trained and sensitised to the importance of special hygiene during food preparation.
  • Each guest is issued with yoga kit, to be kept on site: a yoga mat, bolster, belt, blocks, blanket. These items stay with the guest for a week, then are disinfected and returned.
  • If you wish to take part in surfing lessons, the surfing school we partner with will take care of disinfecting and cleaning the wetsuits and booties after each use. You are also welcome to bring your own wetsuit which can also be cleaned/disinfected by the school.

As a guest, please adhere to the current hygiene regulations (wear a mask, disinfect your hands). We have appropriate protection and disinfection material in stock.

Housing Setup

The total occupancy of the guesthouse has been reduced to a maximum of 12-15 people. This ensures there is enough space in the Yoga Shala, living room, dining room and outdoor communal areas. We are a family-like guesthouse and enjoy sharing the space to eat, drink, work and chill out.

We prefer to organize guests with their own bathrooms. Remote workers tend to have their own single bedrooms and private bathrooms. We regularly have double rooms available for couples or guests travelling as a pair with one bathroom available per double room. We have a shared, three-bed bedroom with one bathroom. This room is bookable for groups of friends already travelling together. There is also a five-bed bedroom which has two bathrooms attached to the room. This room can be available for guests from two separate households as there are two bathrooms included.

Guest isolation room

Should a guest develop symptoms of Covid-19, there is a designated isolation room available for quarantine purposes.

 Returning home

If you have a Corona test within 14 days of your return and the result is positive, please inform us and we will make sure to notify your contacts and test ourselves.

If you have any other questions, suggestions, or concerns, please feel free to call us or send us an email at any time. We wish for a careful and mindful approach towards the current situation and look forward to spending a wonderful time with you.
